Helical Piers Installed in San Clemente, CA by Dalinghaus Construction

From time to time, ECP would like to feature the work of our contractors throughout the country and beyond to show the types of problems they encounter and the solutions for those problems. In the case below, helical piers were used to resolve an issue that presented itself in the form of cracks.

Client Concerned About Cracks in Walls Called for an Inspection

The client contacted Dalinghaus Construction after multiple cracks became visible throughout her home in San Clemente, California. The client noticed cracks appearing throughout the 3-bedroom home in the drywall in two different bedrooms as well as the living room and kitchen. Not knowing if the cracks were a severe problem or not, she contacted Dalinghaus Construction in Lake Elsinore, CA for an inspection of the cracks.

Upon Inspection, it was Determined Helical Piers Were Needed

wall cracks in San Clemente, CAAn inspection was performed by the project consultants at Dalinghaus Construction. They used a Ziplevel altimeter to determine that there were over five inches of settlement in the home that was causing the cracks throughout the property. The engineering standard only allows for half an inch of elevation change. The measurements taken were from the front door to the northeast corner of the home which was about 30 feet. The home was well outside the engineering standard for the amount of settlement considered safe.

Dalinghaus Construction used fifteen ECP helical piers to stabilize the client’s foundation. Helical piers transfer the weight from beneath the foundation slab to the steel piers. This will prevent further settlement of the foundation in the future.

Cracks outside the home in San Clemente, CACracks in walls, drywall, tile, and flooring can be a sign of a serious problem. Our ECP contractors provide free inspections to homeowners, so it is better to get cracks inspected to make sure the problem isn’t serious.
