Featured Job Friday: A Little Bit of History Saved in Florida
Foundation Professionals of Florida Help Save Priest Theater
David Brown and the team at Foundation Professionals of Florida were contracted to work on a historical building in High Springs, Florida. Priest Movie Theater is the oldest operating theater in Florida. The building was experiencing settlement at one of the corners. If you watch the video below you will see that they found an old Model 8 buried beneath the building in that corner!
The theater was built in 1910. A few years ago the theater needed to go digital but before that project could even be considered the foundation issue for the building had to be investigated. If the building could not be saved, there was no point in upgrading the theater to digital.
Commercial Foundation Repairs with No Interruption
Foundation Professionals of Florida worked on the building and the theater was able to stay open through the repairs. This was a huge help to the owners of the theater. The northeast corner of the building was stabilized with steel piers from ECP. In the video below you can see the before and after pictures of this exceptionally challenging job. It’s not every day you have a historical building that is threatened by a car buried beneath a corner!
